To first explain how Dual! fits into The Tenchi-verse we must first go into the material explaining what was cut from DUAL and what happens before dual:
In the tenchi OVA universe, long before the great precursor civilization (DUAL's earth)
the milky-way galaxy's oldest civilization found a giant version of washu who had descended to the third dimension they used her and her gems to create 3 washu clones as military weapons, one of them, B3 had their gem mounted wrong giving her free will and so she ran off from the military.
now washu was sealed to keep her from moving and was compressed (to the small size of only 10000 kilometers) and basically put into stasis, they had nabbed her while she was trying to regress to the size of a small child so she could gain control of her form. many millennia after this happened the thing holding her broke down and eventually she got control of her size and she ended up on the planet kanimitsu where she erased her memories and reverted to a child leaving herself with an orphanage.
but before all that They sent B1 and B2 to retrieve B3, when the other nations found out about this it started a long lasting intergalactic war which was carried out with mass produced bioroid soldiers and the fighting eventually tore apart most of the civilized galaxy and rendered much of the advancly civilized galaxy uninhabitable, some surviving life forms were mutated severely like the Janis T type humanoids of which Janis in space ship aggaruter is from.
the civilizations of this era also created Zero and K the aggaruter and most of the tech they find in aggaruter.
anyways, B3 killed B2 but was soon murdered by B1, who then set her sight on trying to kill the giant washu she had been cloned from, B3's dying screams caused tsunami to manifest in their location and she destroyed b1... and for some odd reason decided to give the humans who watched everything unfold her first wave of first generation royal tree's, presumably this probably includes the military and probably the boy B3 befriended, but he hasn't said anything about this since goodbye 21st century.... so who knows...

anyways the first batch of first generation trees... well let's just say
If the bioroids in the war didn't fuck up most the galaxy... then the military having first generation tree's sure as heck would have if they got their hands on them... its uncertain at the moment, kajishima said that the bioroids where what messed up most of the galaxy but that was long before duals robots were reveealed to be royal trees...either way something caused a large group of highly skilled citizens to take some the first generation seeds and many lower gen seeds and run far from their home country to try and make a new life away.
( they had at least two first generation tree's AHRA and ZINV that we know of currently as of GXP 15 but AHRA most likely seems have been acquired post DUAL! whether they dug it up or it was found in space is uncertain currently)
○ The aliens who left the ruins were stranded on earth by accident that killed many of their engineers and fried their power engines and reactors while they were navigating the universe. their Communication equipment was fine, but they could not send rescue hails. Because they were fleeing, they were deserters escaping from their own cultural sphere. They Left the exploration of viable planets to their computers and preserved their bodies through cryo sleep.(like ayeka) Thus they end up wandering for many years, and somehow ended up crashing on the earth. There were no engineers left alive. In order to live, they tried to build a new cultural center on the earth so they could someday fix their ship. On the Earth there were primitive but highly intelligent humanoids similar to them. Their huge robots were perfect for making them fear and worship them as gods. However, as the cultural area became extensively advanced, it was impossible for them to deal with all their machinery by themselves alone. They chose highly intelligent humans and educated them to use large industrial machines. once, an unexpected accident happened. The humans tried taking the robots and running away. they were destroyed by the aliens armored aircrafts. Most of the Earthlings had an unusually high ability to linking to the alien computer units, and for the human males it was dangerous. the huge robot, by the way, responded as if they were the body of the pilots themselves, sometimes its movement exceeded its limits and it caused robots to self-destruct. While they feared the human's power to threaten their own survival, their civilization was unable to be maintained without Earthlings' labor. as a solution, all computer units were built with a limiter, so that they could not be used men. However, some people thought it would be ok to use the earthlings for battle. They could easily bypass the limits of the machines using them as long as they could keep the earthlings under control. as long as they controlled them they had the strongest soldiers possible.
the earth's nature was overwhelming for some of the alien people who only knew artificial nature built into their spacecraft, they wanted to go back into space. Others wanted to settle and return to nature and battle between the two broke out. in the beginning the naturists were the dominant faction. but most of the few of the alien scientists were not naturalists and because of that the battle was long and drawn out and many died or were injured including D who suffered major injuries.One day the final battle came to a close, one day the naturalist leader decided to destroy all of the scientific civilizations in a battle, they were exhausted from battle, and hated the science faction .most of their People were in sync with the idea, but D was opposed to it ... or rather was afraid .... It was because it was the power of science that she her body had been revived from death. It was terrifying for her to abandon the power of science on the undeveloped planet. D took the the final battle weapon "ZINV" and brought the small moving ship towards their mother ship to reconcile with the science faction. She was a woman who had been killed in all the madness , but her real body had been preserved in the core computer of the mother ship. "Stop it !!" D cried in vain, as ZINV, the weapon they had made to destroy the science faction, fought core robot HIMC that was made to annihilate the naturalist faction. D was the only one who survived the fight between "HIMC" and ZINV.
But it was too late the two factions wiped each other out. She sealed the core of the mother ship and, with her and small ship and she went into stasis.
note in gxp 15 himc is said to have been a second generation tree. ------------------------------------------------

This was the city D lived in and its people. it was a city built by aliens who left their home planet and ended up on earth. instead of cutting out monoliths they used sand and stone building material to make it. this faction was big on the concept of returning to nature and wished to settle on the earth. they used humans as soldiers because they were stronger than alien pilots.
about 90% of their population was actually a mix of earthlings and hybrids of their two species. the huge towers are subspace shield generators that they built when the battle began.

The year 19XX. a mysterious plate was found in both worlds while working on a subway construction site by a construction worker . The two Earths were divided by the behavior of the construction worker. in one reality one of them discarded the plate he picked up as garbage and in the other he stashed it and casually brought it home. The plate held by that worker was brought to the nearby university and confirmed to be made from a special metal by two young genius scientists, Professors Rara and Sanada.
And at that time, the two started investigating the metals for the sake of their personal interests, when they began hearing a strange sound from the site of the underground construction; And when they finally excavated it everyone heard it.
The sound was gradually becoming more and more prominent until their country had no choice but to investigate it. They used an excavation technique that was far ahead of the two scientists scientific power in the form of a huge drill(i may be wrong on the specifics of that sentence).
A huge spaceship was found deep in the ground further under the place where the pre-discovered plate artifact was found. Rara and Sanada were the first people, outside of the members of the civilization that created the ship, whom were able to enter the ship.
When others tried to enter after them, they were unable to get into the ship or to make it to do anything, the first artifact was a kind of passport.

It was only a few years after they found the ship that it was discovered that the first artifact plate was the key.
(and it may have also been a rosetta stone of sorts to decode the alien
language. I am unsure about this. these lines are a bit hard for me to understand.)
As a result of the investigation, it was discovered that the large ship was a spaceship, but the engine and technology for outer space travel and navigation were destroyed.
They also found giant machines onboard the ship.
For some reason The computer units on board that controlled these machines only responded to women. Although the reason behind that was unknown, it seemed that it was due to some biological reaction with their genes that was used as a key.
One night a team of surveyors came from a foreign country and things took a serious turn. Dr. Rara took the ship for himself, and their female assistant, Ayuko Kanama boarded and ran off with him.
However, as a result of the large ship being moved, another small ship was discovered beneath it. And there was a robot that was stored in the smaller ship. ( ZINV was stored in the small ship and HIMC in the large sized ship. Only a person with a characteristics unique to a singular point ( I.E who only exists in one reality like the Mitsuki's or Kazuki) can move them if they aren't one of the aliens who were the owners of the ruins.
Twenty-two years later, the evil Rara army, were able to take off the gene key and so they formed giant robot army that could be piloted by either man or woman and they declared their intent to conquer the world (muwahahahaha). Dr. Sanada who was a friend of Dr. Rara knew his personality, so he was able to hack into their computers passwords and copy some of the science data secretly from Rara's network. But ultimately most of it was pointless.
Pilots on the side of the Earth defence force were able to use the dozens of spare computer units that were stored in the small ship to combat the rara army, but all the pilots on the Sanada side had to be female.

So then Dual happens
at the end of dual zinv returns in a newly created timeline,
Their civilization went into space with it, and gained massive amounts of technology and influence and became known as the great prehistoric civilization mentioned all through GXP and True tenchi.
Ahra was used to breed more second generation trees in the early days of that civilization while Zinv along with D went into stasis on the planet eventually used as a base for the shank guilds Research department, which was also colonized by naturalist wau's.
Presumably one of the first places visited by zinv was Airai, since they say they found the oldest artifacts from the civilization there before they found the wau planet and made ties to renza.
the waus may have been whom they got the seed project technology from since they are the second most populous species and it is said they also had a seed project.

Either way the planet Tera and the 5 artificial planets surrounding it became the prehistoric civilizations core, it is now both the physical and political center of politics for the very politically isolated renza federation which was formed by settlers who found five 3rd generation mechs on tera.

Zinv is found by Seina on the wau planet. several millions of years after dual.
Seina yamada has supernatural bad luck and attracts pairs of four women each with the same attributes as the girls from dual because he is the reincarnation of kazuki's Astral.
he is eventually reunited with all four of the girls in the form of D, who is the original D and she recognizes him as kazuki and he recognizes her as D, Miki, hiroshi manada's ai with an astral put into an android shell, Kirche an Ai astral idol who ran away from her maker who wanted to marry her, and fuku/ widow, the psychopath with supernatural bad luck that only affects others and poisons whole collective consciousnesses, she used the upset on jurai over airi's pregnancy from yosho before her marriage to kasen amaki to help cause a civil war and mass suicide wiping out most of the airain religion then turned her self in after meeting seina, she was put to death and reincarnated by washu into fuku. eventually thanks to miki, all the dual girls are put into cabbit clone bodies by dr.clay while escaping from tarrant's research lab.

Hiroshi MAnada, who looks exactly like ken Sanada made an Ai from the personal data Tsukiko masaki who is presumably the reincarnation of Ayuko Kanama it spontaneously developed a soul and he de-aged erased its memories and put it in an android body and named it miki raising her as his daughter and telling her her mother ran off somewhere. He did this because tsukiko masaki got pregnant and engaged to Ken RARAibera Seinbeck (hiroshi rara... ken sanada... ken rara iba, hiroshi m anada do the math)... ken died mysteriously by something crushing his space station down with an apparent micro black hole... I.E a zinv type humanoid.

eventually Seina is kidnapped to Renza a land full of zinv like mechs of which pirates seem to have acquired some of their own.
D panics when she see HIMIK... a robot with exact design as HIMC and being a second generation just like himic because they never found himik and it should have been eliminated in the new timeline, and obviously in renza they were only supposed to have 3rd and lower mechs.
I am not sure exactly but it seems like Himik was discovered by the pirates and seina has to face it in zinv. and it seems to know how to use the PKW wave which was used by the shank guild in washu to take down the original J.
it seems like they illegally ambush him and drag him into a major battle that destroys most of zinv and seina only barely wins the kamidake illegally breaks free of it's dock in recepshi and goes out to attack when they loose video feed of the battle causing the to face charges of major international law violations.
